Ok heres my Processor: Intel core 2 duo 2.66 Ghz
And Heres My Motherboard: ASUS X Series P5GC-MX /1333 With PCI-Express x16
I currently have a MSI Radeon x1550 Series graphic card installed.

My Question is: Will a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS Work on my motherboard? cause i really want to upgrade to that card. Anyways Thx

you'll need to tell us the rated wattage of your power supply, and preferably its manufacturer.

if you don't know, just tell us your pc's manufacturer and model number.

the geforce 8800GTS comes in 3 different flavours also, each with different power requirements and performance. it is also somewhat obsolete, but if you can get it cheap enough, then it's a good deal.

umm... that's the MOTHERBOARD's manufacturer and model number. we need your COMPUTER's manufacturer and model number... unless it's a custom build, in which case we'll need the powersupply's manufacturer and wattage (and model number too, that will also help).

I already told ya it was custom build ( i think ) plus i got it from a company my dad knows and i can remember the name, its meaningless company no one has ever heard of they just custom build pcs for you, besides i cant find its model number. Besides i was already planning on getting a new power supply, since this one makes alot of noise. And Eurotech silent pro just rocks

To save money and frustration, I would advise opening the computer case and looking at the power supply. If necessary take a digital photo of the specifications sticker.

you've never mentioned whether it's a custom job or not.

but anyways, can't find any reviews on the eurotech silent pro. if you really like it, then go with it. it should be able to handle a geforce 8800GTS.

but once again, i'll remind you that there are THREE different versions of the 8800GTS. the easiest way to distinguish between them is by the amount of ram they have. there are 320mb, 640mb, and 512mb versions. the one you want is the 512mb, because it has a more efficient/powerful GPU core than the other two, and will consistently outperform the other two AND using less power.

As Long as it performs better at GW its a go with it xD Besides graphic cards as good or better than the 8800GTS will run crysis at High

But with that Graph card my PC wont run slowly or anything, or will it?

PS: I Was also thinking of the GeForce 9500 GT ( the one i saw also has 512Mb And much much cheaper ) I was wondering if its better than the 8800 GTS or as good as it. ( the 8800 GTS is 216 euros here -.- also cuz they have the stupid idea of including PC games with graph cards -.- )

I would say if you have a 450 or 500 watt power supply you should be ok and does your Dad have an invoice with the specs on it.

Run yor dxdiag save it and post it back iirc I may tell the power supply wattage.

the 9500 GT is basically the same thing as a 8600 GT. both are significantly worse than the 8800 GTS.

with all that said, the 8800 GTS is an obsolete piece of hardware. if it costs that much, you might as well look into better alternatives, such as the geforce 9800 GTX+, radeon HD4850, HD4830, etc.

Don't waste ur life with nvidia at the moment, they need to seriously fix the 9k series.
ANYways.
Save up your money, and go for a quad core system, x16 2.0, and a ati 4850+.
4 gigs of ddr2 is u can.
Thats my opinion.

Look I Stick With Nvidia, and i always did, i really want tht graph card even if its expensive, cause its an awsome card, and its very recommended for crysis, but only cause of, mostly cause with that card il have a much much more amazing gameplay. Thts the one im gunna buy, and thats tht. About getting an Quad core, well yes, but il only think on tht hypothesis in an year from now, or less, since i don need a quadcore for any game i play atm, it sure does help with crysis and all, but for GW ( wich is the game il sure play for a long long time, i only need a core 2 duo. ) besides i dont even know if my Mobo will support a Quad core, if not then il have to change it and tht will imply more money, wich is a no no, since im just a 17 yr old guy, and i dont have that budget you like to call: great. My parents are not the type of parents that: MOM DAD I WANT THIS! BUY ME! and they do. Oh no, i have to save every penny

but in this case only if i finish high-school with good grades xD but like i said, i dont need the quad core ( for now ) i know a processor is what makes a graphic card, but for now il stay like this. And if i change my Mobo, il obviously get a PCI-Express 2.0 With Sli Enabled so i can enjoy even more Nvidia´s goodness :P.

But like i said, il stay this way for now. Its not like if a core 2 duo, 2 GB of RAM and a 8800 GTS suck -.- xD

Oh and 4 GB of RAM? youre not suggesting vista are you? if yes then forget it! Everyone knows XP is the right choice for game-lovers, besides a core quad would work even better on an XP

well, there's good (8800 GTS) and there's better (9800 GTX+, radeon HD4850). hell, if i have to pay the equivalent of $280 USD for a graphic card, i might as well buy a radeon HD4870 or a geforce GTX260, which are both TWICE as powerful as the 8800 GTS.

personally, i think you don't know nearly enough about computer parts to make good decisions. if you absolutely want to buy an inferior card for more money, then go nuts.

PS: most of us here do not beg our parents to buy us stuff. if you really have to squeeze out every penny, then you'd go with the card that gives you the best performance for money. the 8800 GTS is not the one.

PPS: the 8800 GTS is not recommended for crysis. 7 months ago yes, but now? no.

I don't mean to be a fan-girl for Nvidia, buuuttt.... Aside from the loudness of the 9K series there isn't much to complain about tbh. The 9K series is fine, and the thing I love most about Nvidia is the physics engine in the cards

Think about it~ You put 4 of them in your computer, and you can actually use that engine to take a load off your processor. Nvidia has better performance, and ATI has more stable drivers. Both are good companies, but I happen to like Nvidia a tiny bit more.

As for the Quad-core system I honestly think that's a joke. I could be wrong, but I don't think anything that's released right now fully uses the Quad-Core, and I highly doubt (though there are rumors) that anything will be up to that challenge anytime soon. Dual-Core runs fine~

I google'd stuff and I actually don't know a ton about computers, but from what I see that motherboard should be able to run the GeForce 8800 GTS. The one(s) on newegg, are 640MB and 512MB, but the 512MB is made by BFG Tech, and it's a bit more expensive.

The 640MB one is also PCI Express x16, and the 512MB one is PCI Express 2.0 x16, which basically means you're not going to get the full power of the 8800GT if you do the 512MB in your current setup. ;\ So I'd make sure that when/if you get the card and it's 512MB (If you decide to go with it) That it's PCI Express x16 and not PCI Express 2.0 x16.

Your processor should be fine, and I'd rather be safe than sorry and I'd get somewhere around a 700-800watt PSU. -shrug- It should be fine for now, but I think you mentioned it was really loud or something, which could be the fan dying.

Ummm then what graphic card do you suggest? It has to be a 512 Mb, that works with my Mobo ( PCI-Express x16 ) and cheap also xD and of course it has to be good enough to run guild wars at its hgihest settings and with anti-aliasing on too. Id love tht it could run crysis at high :/. Either way i dont know what graph card to buy :/
